Thank you for Making Our Convention a Success!
Well, we’ve come to the end of yet another successful AHEPA Family Supreme Convention.
Yesterday was jam-packed with events. Our Junior Orders, the Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena, were treated by having a special guest attend their brunch, Archbishop Demetrios. His Eminence provided inspirational remarks to our young community leaders. Also, our newly-elected AHEPA Family Supreme and Grand Lodge officers took their oaths at our Installation Ceremony. Congratulations to our newly-elected Supreme Lodge officers who will be led by Supreme President John Galanis of Elm Grove, Wisconsin; and to all newly-elected AHEPA family officers. All the best for the 2015-2016 administrative year!
However, yesterday’s events culminated with our pinnacle event, the 93rd Grand Banquet. The program was a testament to the AHEPA family’s grassroots capability to raise much-needed funds for charitable causes. All told, AHEPA and its affiliated organizations, the Daughters of Penelope, Sons of Pericles, and Maids of Athena, announced nearly $115,000 in new funds raised to help rebuild Saint Nicholas National Shrine at World Trade Center. Our most worthy principal honoree was Theofanis Economidis, who received the 2015 AHEPA Aristotle Award, representing excellence in his profession and in service to his community, from Philanthropist/Entrepreneur George Marcus. We commemorated the Daughters of Penelope’s 85th anniversary, and we received an eloquent Keynote Address from His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios. Our AHEPA family leadership, led by Supreme President Phillip T. Frangos, each delivered emotional farewell addresses.
As we wrap a bow on the 93rd Supreme Convention, I am reminded about all those who came from near and far—from our local San Francisco AHEPA family to our delegates and guests who came from Greece, Bulgaria, and Australia—and commend them for taking the time to be with us and to attend to the business of the Order.
